Horsesense: Ranch maintains an 80 horse herd made up of Quarter Horses and a few Arabians, Paints, and Thoroughbreds. The horses work 15 hours or five days-whatever comes first - and then the horses enjoy a one week vacation in good pastures. The tack and riding style is Western and the rides are divided according to experience in the saddle, so that on any day there are several distinct rides that are available. The more experienced riders can even experience some magnificent off ranch rides where horses are brought to trail head at some distance from the ranch to begin your all day adventures in the backcountry.

The ranch lies 85 miles southeast of Tucson, Arizona at a height of 5000 feet (1500 m) in a heavily wooded area with plenty of wildlife. While horseback riding is the principal activity there are wonderful hiking trails, a video room library, a recreational room, comfortable central lodge, attractive accommodations and wonderful meals. The riding levels can be geared to your abilities. The ranch can basically ride you to your heart's delight and your body's willingness and experience. There are introductory morning rides, shorter afternoon rides, all day rides and off ranch rides where horses are trailered to some of the more exciting areas to ride that surround the ranch. Children must be at least 12 years or older to accompany parents at the ranch. The heated swimming pool is open April through October as is the hot tub. Informal clothing including jeans is always appropriate.

Getting There :
Tucson is the closest large airport but Phoenix with numerous international flights is only about an hour north of that by vehicle. For those renting a car either airport should be comfortable. For those of you wish transfers Tucson airport is the place to go. Tucson is 85 northeast of the property.

Room and Board :
Guests stay in either cabin room with en suite accommodations, or casitas which are small houses with several rooms, en suite accommodations, including a sitting room and a porch. Breakfast is the only meal ordered from a menu, and offers a wide selection of various egg dishes, such as plain, Mexican or cheese omelets, the normal selection of eggs, bacon or sausage, delicious pancakes, and, for the light eaters, a fabulous breakfast parfait of no sugar granola layered with low fat yogurt and fruit, just to mention a few.   Various sweet breads such as fresh made banana, blueberry bread, pineapple or pumpkin breads are offered daily, together with a selection of fruit juices.  Breakfast is served from 7:30 am during the fall, winter and spring months, and from 6:30 am during the summer months. All meals are accompanied by a side dish (e.g., rice, potatoes, pasta), one or two vegetables, homemade bread, and a salad, with a fresh, tempting dessert to follow. Home cooking includes ranch made ice creams and breads - with the exception of the sandwich bread. Lunches vary, but always include a hot entree, cold meats and cheese for those who prefer a sandwich, and a full scale salad bar for the health-conscious eaters. They are happy to accommodate vegetarians.

Weather :

Winters are warm during day and chilly at night, including occasional dawn frost. Spring and autumn are perfect for all activities. The 5000 feet(1500 metres) altitude keeps the summer mid-day heat to mid 90 Fahrenheit in dry pleasant air and the nights cool.
