Sierra Leone is gradually becoming a tourist destination after many years of being inaccessible. The country is still in the early stages of developing so hotels and infrastructure are still quite poor. Eco-tourism is being significantly promoted and there are quite a few wildlife sanctuaries and forest reserves, not to mention beautiful beaches. Outamba-Kilmi national park has a landscape of grassy savannah, hills, forests and rivers filled with natural beauty and wildlife.
Sierra Leone has a tropical climate which does not really suit horses. There are no horse riding holidays in Sierra Leone. Dry season in Sierra Leone is December through to May and this is often the most pleasant time of year with breezy days. Frreetown is the nations capital, situated on a coastal peninsular home to the third biggest natural harbour in the world. Sierra Leone is on the Atlantic coast of west Africa, between Guinea and Liberia.
