Riding Holidays | Ghana
Horse riding is becoming quite popular in Ghana and there is a small but increasing horse community, particularly around Accra. The Accra polo club and Accra Turf club both provide horse riding activities and have modern facilities. Horse riding is also possible on some of Ghana's beaches. While day rides are available from the above establishments, there are no known horse riding holidays in Ghana. We are always looking for new riding destinations and regularly update the information on this site. If you have information about horse riding in Ghana please do contact us.
Traditionally a destination for African game viewing safaris, Ghana has lots of different attractions to see. Visit spectacular wilderness areas such as Mole National Park, popular for its variety of animals including elephants and baboons, or travel to the vast Lake Volta. Maybe stay at an Atlantic coast beach resort such as the Labadi beach hotel, or see cultural highlights like festivals and drumming displays in the cities. Ghana is also famous for its colourful textiles with traditional robes made from different brightly coloured woven cloth. You may also see ornate horse trappings made from these colourful fabrics at Ghana festivals.
Ghana is a tropical country set in west Africa next to Burkina Faso and Togo. It has English as the official language. The rainy season varies depending on the region you visit but is generally from April to November. The hotter south is also normally dry in July and August and this is a popular time for travellers to visit. Getting there is relatively easy with regular flights to Kotaka international airport at Accra.
