Riding Holidays | Poland
Visiting Poland for a horse riding holiday is one of the best ways to see all that the country has to offer. From horseback riders can explore the country’s varied and interesting landscape and visit villages and farms to see the rural Polish way of life. Horseback rides in Poland typically mean riding through peaceful farmland enjoying the fresh air, climbing high into mountainous forest areas, or cantering on grassy tracks past sparkling lakes and along scenic river valleys.
Poland has a long tradition of horse riding and there are many riding stables on the outskirts of larger towns and cities allowing travellers to combine a short city break with a few days exploring the countryside on horseback. For more adventurous travellers it is well worth joining a full week long riding holiday. Riders can choose from centre based holidays enjoying a mix of riding lessons and hacks out. Alternatively opt for a mobile trail ride, staying at different places each night and having the freedom to explore more remote parts of the country, with long hours in the saddle each day and fast riding.
Centres offering week long riding holiday packages with accommodation are found particularly in the south at Cracow and in the Bieszczady and Pieniny Mountains; in the north near Pelplin and in the west near Jelenia Góra and Zbąszyń. As well as the longer trail rides for competent riders several of these establishments also offer centre based stays for beginners.
No horse lover’s visit to Poland is complete without a visit to the Janow Podalski Stud. This is the oldest State owned stud farm in the country and is famed for its breeding of Polish Arabians. Poland is also known for its Wielkopolsky horse, a Polish warmblood descended from Trakehners, Thoroughbreds, Arabs and Hanovarian stock.
