The Republic of Djibouti is a county in the Horn of Africa, bordered by Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia and it has a Red Sea coastline. There are few horses in Djibouti and no horse riding holidays. Interesting facts about Djibouti: The country was once a French colony and French is still spoken by many people here. Djibouti city itself is quite cosmopolitan and forward thinking, with European, Arab and African influences. There are a number of well known hotel groups, but Djibouti is known for being rather expensive. Places to visit include the Red Sea beaches and Moucha Island for diving; Lac Assal which is a huge salt pan or Lac Abbe, a unique moonlike landscape and where Planet of the Apes was filmed!
