| Horsesense: |
Rides will be 4 to 5 hours daily. The property states that their experience with guests is that after riders receive instructions in the arena and oval track even riders with little experience are normally confident and ready for the trail rides. The Icelandic Horse is an extraordinary animal still possessing the natural five gaits and traits of the old European horse. Purebred for over 1000 years, it has the natural five gaits walk, trot, canter, tolt, and flying pace. The tolt is the most popular four beat gait as it takes the rider on smooth ride that can vary in speed. The flying pace is a two beat gait that can make the rider feel as though one is flying. Because the Icelandic Horse has had no carnivorous enemies, it has an ingrown friendly nature. This contributes to its easy temperament and unafraid personality. The rough terrain and nature in Iceland has led to its amazing stamina and hardiness. The height of Icelandic Horses is 13 - 14.2 hands. These small but strong horses can easily carry a rider up to 200 lbs. Rides will be 4 to 5 hours daily. Our experience is that guests, after the instructions in the arena and oval track, riders with little experience are confident and ready for the trail rides. At the Icelandic Horse Farm, we breed, train and sell Icelandic horses with superb bloodlines. Located in beautiful British Columbia, our farm is surrounded by mountains and forests with miles of trails where all our horses are ridden. Exposed to different terrains and tasks, our horses are trained for the best in tolt, response and grace. |
