Riding Holidays | Burundi

Burundi is a small country in east Africa next to Rwanda, D. R. Congo and Tanzania and shares Lake Tanganyika. It is a poor country, famous for its drumming culture. Sport is extremely popular and seems naturally innate to every day life here. Despite this horse riding is not common and there are no known horse riding holidays in Burundi. Basketball and football are played regularly throughout the country.

Burundi sits on a high plateau on the edge of the Great African Rift Valley. It has some beautiful mountain scenery with lots of wildlife and has a big farming community. The capital is Bujumbura and French is quite widely spoken or understood. However Burundi is not currently a suggested tourist destination due to fairly recent unrest.
