Burkina FasoRiding Holidays | Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso is less well known than some of its neighbouring west African countries, such as Mali and Niger. The country has a long history of horse culture and at different times of year there are extravagant displays of horsemanship and horse festivals to see. The annual Barani horse festival is one of the biggest in Burkina Faso and attracts many thousands of people. Horse riding is common in Burkina Faso among local families and there are a few leisure riding centres, particularly in the south west near Mount Tena Kourou. However there are no known horse riding holidays in Burkina Faso.

We are always looking for new riding destinations and regularly update the information on this site. If you have information about horse riding in Burkina Faso please do contact us.

Burkina Faso is a stable country and despite being rather poor has lots of interesting history and culture to see. Music and drumming groups are popular and the capital city Ouagadougou has one of the biggest African arts and craft fairs anywhere on the African continent. Gorom-Gorom in the north of Burkina Faso is also famous for its market. Wildlife safaris are possible in the south of the country. The climate is hot and with the dry season from October to April and a short wet season from May to September.
