Riding Holidays | Northumberland - England
Northumberland is a county in North-East England, sharing a border with Scotland. It is the least populated county in the whole of England, and therefore has miles of untouched countryside for horse and rider to explore.
The physical geography of Northumberland is very diverse, with flatland along the coastline and mountainous terrain inland. Northumberland National Park is the predominant landscape feature of the county, home to dramatic mountains, rolling hills and secluded valleys. Riding in the park is a fantastic experience for all abilities – the romantic landscape of the Cheviot Hills provides the perfect backdrop for a relaxed, enjoyable trail or mountain ride, where you can hack for miles without seeing a soul. The Northumberland Coastline is a recognised Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is not to be missed on a trip to the county. The coastal landscape is just as dramatic as that of the national park – with endless rocky cliff faces, hidden islands and deserted sandy beaches, all to be explored on horseback.
With various equestrian centres around Northumberland offering exciting holidays in the outstanding surroundings, it is definitely worth a visit!
