Riding Holidays | Georgia
Georgia State, named after King George II of England is situated next to Florida, Alabama and South Carolina. It has a wealth of natural wonders to discover from horseback. There are lots of horses in Georgia and it is a fantastic destination for an eastern USA horse riding holiday. Equestrian stables are spread throughout the State, with extensive horse boarding and training facilities available and quite a few different riding disciplines represented.
Northern Georgia is home to mountains and the Chattahoochee National Forest. Hidden amongst pristine mountain valleys we find a number of horse ranches offering Georgia western riding vacations. Journey to Fort Mountain State Park for guided horseback trails, riding western style on well schooled horses. Explore tracks through hardwood forest, across high sparkling streams and past the sandy shores of a tranquil mountain lake. Look out for wildlife as you ride such as deer, wild turkeys or even bears. Stop at a stunning viewpoint for photos or have lunch by a thundering waterfall. Visit the mountains around Blairsville for a western ranch holiday with scenic rides into the forest, across hay fields and peaceful meadows. All levels of rider are catered for with responsive well behaved ranch mounts available.
Travel south towards the central heartlands near to Atlanta for a Georgia ranch stay at a traditional Guest ranch and horse farm. Have trail rides on Quarter Horses and Paints and learn about western horsemanship. Relax back at the ranch after a day in the saddle and enjoy home cooked ranch cuisine and great southern hospitality. Take time to visit Cumberland Island off the southeast coast to see the wild horses which live here. Over 150 feral horses roam free on the island and can often be seen grazing in the sand dunes. The island is a short ferry trip from the mainland at St. Marys.
